Loft + Loyal Nine Wedding // Boston & Cambridge

An airy and lovely wedding in Boston and Cambridge, we began at the Ames Hotel, then wedded at a South Boston Loft, and capped the evening with photos and a delicious meal at Loyal Nine in Cambridge.

As part of a thoughtful and radiant ceremony, guests came forward to bestow seven blessings upon the couple. As I captured the events of the day, I saw these blessings mulitiplied and returned to guests, family, friends and all.

From the sharing of poetry, to the sharing of a meal, to shared space withing rings of candlelight, Fen and Justine created a space of radiance and belonging that really shines through in their wedding photographs.

Fen and Justine were married at in a private loft at 60 K Street Studios in South Boston. The ceremony was followed by dining and dancing at Loyal Nine Restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The catering was provided by Loyal Nine and Sofra. The couple and their guests stayed at the Ames Hotel Boston.

Writer’s Retreat Wedding // Vermont

Adam and Paula gathered their tribe in the misty meadows of the Green Mountains of Vermont.

The early afternoon rain gathered family and friends together in the big farmhouse, while their camping tents held watch over the soggy ground.

As the ceremony time approached, the rain cleared. And then these two struck gold.

Camp Becket Wedding // the Berkshires

All of these moments happened at the beautiful Camp Becket in the Berkshires, where the groom spent many a summer as a camper and counselor. “I grew up breathing this mountain air, that’s why I am so tall.”

Backyard Bluegrass Wedding // Massachusetts

The kickin’ bluegrass music was played by the Tricky Britches with a special guest appearance by the groom himself. The wedding was held in the beautiful backyard of a family friend, a place where the groom has spent much time.

And a huge hi-five to the bride who lived her once-in-a-lifetime wedding day on a lace-wrapped sprained ankle.

Farm-to-Table Wedding // Western Massachusetts

Sometimes a wedding dives deep into to your heart, reconnects you to your roots, and changes you forever.

Emily & Tyson are farmers who grew the vegetables and raised the chickens and milked the goats which made up the wedding day meal of handmade cheeses, wood-fired roasted chicken, and end-of-summer salads. Their friends brewed the beer and baked the desserts.

Their growing family of three children escorted them through the day. And the local farm families who gathered in their honor stayed with them until the sun set and the full moon rose and the fiddles came out.

In the morning I woke up in a tent on the bride & groom’s farm and Emily’s goats came by to say hello.

This wedding day transpired at The Farm School in Athol, Massachusetts. Cristina Garcia prepared the food which was grown at the Farm School and also raised by the bride & groom on their family farm. The bride made the cheeses. The community made the desserts. The bride’s dress was custom made from the fabric of her grandmother’s wedding dress. Members of the chorus at Tanglewood sang during the ceremony.

Many thanks to the bride and groom for inviting my husband and daughter along and for giving us a place to pitch our tent and rest our heads on their farm.

Loving. To the moon and back.

Liri & Paul’s wedding day was marked by those present, living deeply and fully, gathered under the canopy of family and tradition. Absence was also there, the absence of a sister, of wives and husbands, of parents and grandparents and of friends who walked this same path of loving before Paul and Liri. Whose footsteps (visible and invisible) guided them here.

For a day, let’s make all of this visible. Cut the cake, sing the songs, throw the money! And just love, love, love.
